Tom Braziunas

Tom majored in geophysical sciences at the University of Chicago before earning a Master’s Degree in the realm of paleontology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  He holds a doctorate in geology from the University of Washington.  Tom conducted research on the carbon cycle and climate at the UW while teaching courses in geology (including dinosaurs), oceanography and geography at South Seattle and North Seattle Community Colleges.  He is currently the Associate Dean of e-Learning at North Seattle Community College and also teaches hybrid and online college courses on dinosaurs.  However, his most important qualification for teaching dinosaurs is not his educational background, but the fact that he still has his toy dinosaur collection from way back some 50 plus years!  Tom loves to travel, especially to places with cool rock and fossil features.  Amongst the exciting places he has visited are the feathered dinosaur locales in China, Egg Mountain in Montana, Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta and the Allosaurus-rich Cleveland-Lloyd Quarry in Utah.  Tom loves to learn from others, which is why he teaches!
