Susan Schneider

Susan Schneider has been an artist in batik, oils and watercolors for 35 years. She returned to Seattle three years ago after living in London for 12 years and teaching at the largest community college in London. She can be found on Sundays sketching the people, flowers and dogs at the Ballard Farmer's Market. Her biggest influences are Matisse and Bonnard and her artisitc family.

Drawing with Confidence

Learning to accurately draw what you see gives you the confidence and ability to work in any medium. You will develop your skills in contour drawing, shading, creating depth and arm and pencil measuring By drawing the world around us, we learn to see it. Winter Quarter

Watercolors for Everyone

Those with little or no experience with watercolor will appreciate this unique take on the fundamentals starting with basic materials of paper, brushes and pigments followed by a solid grounding in techniques like laying washes, composition and color.  Students will also gain insight into overglazing, lifting out, staining and granulation.  Class sessions involve simple still life set ups in a relaxed studio atmosphere.  Bring any watercolor supplies like brushes, paint and paper to the first class.  See the supply list for suggested colors and paper. Intermediate students are welcome as the instructor works with each student at their own level of experience. Water containers and paper towels are provided. Click here for supply list.
