Melanie Farrar began teaching basic computer skills classes and introductory Excel classes for the continuing education department in 2014.  She also teaches in the Business Department at North Seattle College, and has previously taught in the public schools and worked for non-profit and private businesses.

Computer Skills for the Very Beginner

Build a foundation for all computer tasks by learning the fundamentals. Move at a slower pace as you learn computer terms, get hands-on experience entering data and get a brief introduction to Microsoft Office Suite. Designed for the beginner, you’ll gain confidence for general usage of the computer.

Introduction to MS Office

This three-day workshop will be a no-stress introduction to Microsoft Office Suite, learning to create documents in Word, spreadsheets in Excel, and presentations and slide shows in PowerPoint. There will be plenty of time for questions in a relaxed setting. Prerequisites: Continuing Ed course ‘Computer Skills for the Very Beginner’ or an introductory level of personal computer use. Prior experience in Microsoft Office Suite is NOT required.
