Mary Oak

Mary is author of “Heart’s Oratorio: One Woman’s Journey through Love, Death and Modern Medicine” (Goldenstone Press, 2013). Her work, rooted in a love for the living earth and a spirituality that draws from many sources, has appeared in various journals in the U.S. and the U.K. Mary is a writing guide and leads classes at her Pegasus and Sisters Writing Studio in Seattle. From 1998 to 2013, she was a core faculty member of Sound Circle Center for Arts and Anthroposophy, where she codirected the Foundation Studies program. She still teaches creative writing, festivals, nature awareness and storytelling at Sound Circle. Mary holds a degree in Mythopoetics and Sacred Ecology from Antioch University, Seattle and a MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles. Mary has a background in Psychosynthesis, Pastoral Counseling and Deep Ecology.

Writing into Wisdom: Exploring Feminine Archetypes

Become familiar with feminine archetypes and explore their influence on phases of your life. In a circle of women, listen to Goddess stories from a range of cultures and discover which Goddesses you relate to or resist. Delve into myth and memoir, journaling and creative writing, to deepen and express your sense of self. Please bring a journal of choice to write in for class.
