Christopher Gronbeck is owner and manager of The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar in Fremont. He's been writing and teaching about wine and spirits for many years, and has a 20-year history as an educator. Christopher is passionate about exploration and discovery at The Barrel Thief, and loves eating and drinking his way to a better understanding of cultures around the world.

Make Your Own Cocktail Bitters

Make your cocktails seamless and add new depth with bitters, a must-have for your home bar. You will learn how to create a basic bitters base, experimenting with different infusions of aromatic plant extracts for custom flavors. The class includes everything you'll need to craft two 4-oz. bottles of bitters, including the base spirit, a variety of bittering and flavoring agents, and reusable infusion jars and dispensing bottles that you'll get to take home. What better gift for your cocktail-making friends? A $15 materials fee is due to the instructor in class.

The History of Bourbon: An American Classic

With its deep roots in Kentucky, Bourbon is the quintessential American whiskey, now produced and enjoyed all over the country. We'll taste our way through Bourbons from Kentucky, Washington State, and places in between, exploring the storied history of Bourbon and learning how it's made and what makes it unique. Spain has more vineyard acreage than any other country, and has a long, rich tradition of winemaking. In this course, we'll taste our way through Spanish wine history, regions, grapes, and classic styles. Students must be 21 or older; picture ID required.
