Write Like a Philosopher- Meeting Online

Is this a writing class or a philosophy class? Yes, to both! Good writing isn't all plot and character—much of it is arguing a point of view, and that means being clear, precise, and in the end, persuasive. Philosophers ask weird questions like, "Should we edit human DNA?” “What is knowledge?” and "Can machines think?" From these questions we will form and hone our arguments. We'll be doing philosophy in this class and reading some short pieces by contemporary philosophers, all with an eye to sharpening your writing skills. A $2 materials fee is due to the instructor on the first day of class. Exact cash only. See Textbook and Supply List for textbook information.
