Nature Writing

Explore and deepen your relationship to the natural world through sensory awareness, contemplative observation and writing. We will take advantage of summer at the North College campus, and go out to the garden or under trees. We will also look at examples of Nature Writing from a selection of writers and poets to develop and sense of this genre. Please bring a notebook and something to sit on outside.

[I liked the] topic, soulful and talented sensitive instructor, outdoor writing in beautiful campus garden, and wonderful talented soulful classmates. I also appreciated Mary Oak bringing her own library to show us bit by bit every week in a rolling suitcase. That was a lot of hauling to show us all those beautiful books. She is an intuitive teacher appreciative of each student's uniqueness. Mary Oak set the atmosphere to be encouraging and supportive, to provide a response and not critique to each student's sharing.
