Abstract Watercolors

Combine the expressive, personal, object-free vision of abstraction with the smaller, particular, intimate beauty of watercolors. The focus of this class is on the elements of design, color and harmony, line and shape while creating an exciting and compelling painting that expresses a personal inner vision. Often alluding to nature or a state of mind, Abstract Watercolors will carry the painter to the beauty of feelings, spirit, and imagination. See Textbook and Supply List for supply list. Students who take this class are invited to participate in our Summer CE Student Art Show. Visit our Art Show page for more information.

Virginia gives us the knowledge and "rules" regarding art in general and watercolor specifically, then lets us practice different aspects. While she gives us the guidelines and demonstrates how to follow them, she also gives us the freedom to color outside the lines. I am new to watercolor, as are several others and there are accomplished artists in class with us, but we all are able to learn and enjoy the process.
